Behind the Ring: Joan Black Diamond

When Iz designs any piece for Iz&Co, he looks to draw inspiration from history or an event that has impacted him.

For “The Joan” Ring, inspiration came from Joan of Arc. Iz took to research about all the amazing women throughout history and her story captured his attention. It was her strength and courage that really drove the ideas that made this unique piece.

The Armor as Inspiration

History shares that Joan of Arc’s armor was one solid piece rather than various detachable pieces. It also has been said that the polished, almost white-looking color of her armor is what gave her the ethereal glow. Many believed her to be a saint sent to lead armies.

The Iz&Co piece tapped into both those stories to make the ring itself a complete piece that would require no additional jewelry add-ons. Its edges and intricate design convey a medieval, vintage, and an old world feel. In addition, the sides of the center black diamond were designed to armor the central gem and are accented by milgrain borders across the entire ring.

The Allure of Vintage

Throughout the years, we have seen a growing interest in vintage-looking designs. It is the tribute to an era, or the melancholy we attribute to a time of the past, that allows a customer to engage emotionally with a piece of that style.

We, at Iz&Co, value finding an emotional meaning to the piece any client acquires, as is makes the experience, from selecting it to wearing it, that much more special.
